Easter Lilies
by Diane Heeney

Description: Tips for caring for and extending the life of your Easter lilies.

Sponsors:

Extend the life of your Easter lily by purchasing ones with tight buds.  They should be placed in moderate light, and kept moist, with cool temperatures.  Removing the yellow anthers will also help them last longer.

Once the blooms have withered, remove them.  The plant may go dormant at this time. Water sparingly to avoid root rot.  After frost danger is gone, remove from the pot and knock off the old dirt, spread the roots and plant a few inches deeper than it was in its pot.  Many people report their lilies have bloomed in the garden for several years.
