Recently, I saw some cute holiday stockings with different holiday motifs emblazoned on the front. They were a little expensive so I took to the task of creating my own motifs from.you got it.cookie cutters.
I have tons of Christmas cookie cutters since I love to bake treats for family and friends so I had plenty on hand. If you have favorite cookie cutters, try this idea for making your own custom stocking designs.
How to:
Place a cookie cutter on wrong side of a piece of plush or craft felt. Trace around cookie cutter with a fabric-marking pen. Remove cookie cutter and cut on the inside of your marked lines.
Either machine or hand-stitch the fabric cut-out onto front of stocking, or, use fabric glue to adhere the cut-out in place.
Variations:
Try this technique to add cut-out designs to wine bags, tablecloths, tree skirts, placemats or even breadcloths.imagine getting fresh baked cookies wrapped snugly in a breadcloth with the same design. Impressive and yet so simple.
