Pest Control: Eliminating Sugar Ants

Tip #1: If you have a problem with sugar ants, a mixture of half vinegar half water sprayed on the ants will eliminate them instantly.

Tip #2:The VERY best product I have used for many years is ANT TERRO. They now have the little plastic "death traps" but are a little hard to find so I order from their website. This is the ONLY product I have found to work consistently and have recommended it to many people. Even mailed some to my daughter when she had the problem in her kitchen and laundry room. I had tried every other product on the market!!...Peggy

Tip #3: Definitely, use the Terro outside. If you place it in your house, the ants come in towards the scent. Then you will have thousands! Clean all foods from countertops, floors, etc. and do not use any soaps in the kitchen that contain a fruity scent (apple, orange, etc). Also, clean where kids sit and play. (I have found all kinds of food stuff under my couch.) This lures ants in. Place your Terro a few places around the house and that should pretty much keep them from coming indoors...Kathy

Tip #4: Another way to rid your home of sugar ants is to place moth balls around the base of your home. My grandmother used this method all her life and we have found wonderful result for the last 6 years. I only use about 1 box a year since we are in the central US. We just approximate the placement to be about 10"-12" apart. We have seen a couple of ants since we started using the moth balls but this was only due to: "It's time to place more moth balls!"
