Birthday Party
by Debbie Nikkel

Description: Creative birthday party ideas.

Only 9 days left until my son turns 2 years old. The first two years have been such a wonderful journey that has gone too fast. I have decided to invite a few cousins and friends over for a couple of hours to celebrate the birth of this incredible soul. There is much to do before the celebration. I need to bake a cake, organize games, fill loot bags and decorate the home. This article will give you great ideas to have a great party on a moderate budget. Happy Birthday.

Birthday Themes

Revolve it around your child's favourite things. Television Characters: Arthur, Batman, Teletubbies, Franklin Sports: Basketball, baseball, swimming Themes: Zoo, Science, Mexico, Forest

Decorations

Decorate according to your theme. If your theme is a zoo party, paint pictures of animals, flowers, trees and incorporate them all over the party room. Make animals out of bristol board and hang from the ceilings or tape onto the walls. Have the children dress in costume to add to the decorations. Dress the birthday child and yourself in costume as well. Be outrageous and do something a little different.

Games

Be creative and keep it into the theme and the age of the guests. A great game is pin the tail on the donkey. Make a little adjustments and have pin the bat to the baseball player or pin a bow tie on Arthur.

Prizes and Loot Bags

Go to the nearby dollar store and go crazy. Fill the bag with little gadgets and keep a few gadgets to give as prizes for the games. Fill with homemade cookies, candy and/or fudge.

Cake

Go into the kitchen and have fun. Make a simple cake and decorate according to the theme. If it is a forest party place plastic trees, bears and goats all over the cake. Do not forget the candles.

Birthdays are a great time to make the honoured guest feel special and loved. Go all out and put it in the books as a great memory for the years to come.
