Bridal Shower Gifts
by Debbie Nikkel

The expense of attending a wedding can throw off anybody's budget especially if they are close family members or friends. Do not fret, this summer try making part of the bridal gifts. These ideas look expensive and extravagant but are at a modest cost. These gift items take a little extra time but the bride rarely forgets such a thoughtful gift.

1. Spice Rack

Write a recipe for each spice in the spice rack. Instead of buying an all-in-one spice rack, buy small containers from a dollar store and fill with spices from the bulk store.

2. Cookie Haven

Buy a cookie sheet or two. By a half a dozen cookie cutters. The best ones are metal: kitchen stores carry them for under $1. Do a cookie recipe book with a unique range of cookies. You may also put the dry ingredients in a jar for each cookie mix with the full recipe attached. Add kitchen gadgets of your choice that are in relation to the cookie theme. Great choices are oven mitts, mixing bowl, spatula and measuring cups. Place it all in a basket or wooden box and decorate.

3. Address Book

Print the names, phone numbers, addresses, emails, anniversaries, birthdays and special occasions for the bride and groom's family and friends. You may also enclose a calendar with the special days marked in for the remainder of the year.

4. Romance Basket

Buy a warm, cozy blanket with enough room for two to snuggle under. Buy it on sale, there is always sales for blankets in the summer months. Place the blanket in a basket and fill the basket with 2 interesting glasses, romantic CD, video, the couple's favorite drink, candles and any other items you can think of.

5. Bathroom Extravaganza

Buy a couple of towels and a face cloth. Make bubble bath, massage oil, herbal sachets, and decorative soaps. To make the toiletries is inexpensive and fun. Most items can be purchased at the discount and grocery store. Place all the items in a nice box or basket.

6. Pasta Surprise

Buy a colander or big pot and place dry pasta, pasta spices, Parmesan and a couple cans of tomatoes if they can fit. Write down your favorite recipe for each pasta shape you have given.

Enjoy making these gifts for family and friends! Have a great time at the bridal shower.
