3 Tips to Keep Your Bathroom Tiles Clean and Sparkling White
by Siena Lombardi
People use bathrooms to clean themselves, but here’s a question for everyone to think about: are your bathrooms clean?
It’s a fact that cleaning bathrooms can be a very difficult task. It is used everyday, soap suds accumulate, and most of the time it’s wet. Keeping the tiles shiny and sparkling is the hardest challenge of all, hence the question: Is there an easy and effective way to keep the tiles in bathrooms clean and sparkling white?
Here are 3 simple ways to keep bathroom tiles clean and sparkling white. At the onset, always remember that cleaning your bathroom tiles regularly will make cleaning easier and more effective.
Tip #1: Make your own bathroom cleaner solution. If you do this, you’ll save a lot of money plus they’re safer to use. To make an effective bathroom tile cleaner, especially fit for bathroom tiles, toilet bowl, bath tub, and sink, simply make a cleaning solution by mixing 1/4 cup of baking soda into 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Mix them well and you now have an effective cleaning solution. To use, simply soak a clean cloth with the solution and wipe the tiles to be cleaned. After cleaning, wash the tiles with lukewarm water. The tiles will be clean and sparkling white afterwards.
Pure white vinegar is also a very good tile cleaner. To use, just use plain white vinegar in the tiles and rub very well the tiles using a damp cloth. Leave to dry; and when tiles are dry, wipe with a clean, dry cloth until shiny and sparkling.
Tip #2: To clean grouts between tiles, mix very well half a cup of white vinegar to 1/2 cup of ammonia, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 tsp. borax. Simply use a small amount of this thick cleaner by applying it to bathroom tiles and grouts. When cleaning grouts, use a toothbrush and when cleaning a wider area such as the floor, use a wet sponge. When done, rinse well the area cleaned with warm water.
Tip #3: Soap scum is not only ugly, it is also difficult to remove. But it can be removed! To effectively remove soap scum from bathroom tiles, make a cleaning solution or scum cleaner by combining a mixture of 3 parts water and 1 part chlorine bleach. This mixture is perfect for removing mildew and stains from grout in between tiles.
Lastly, never, use any materials that are too harsh for your tiles. The last thing you want are scratches on your tiles; they look ugly and will make the tiles look dirty and old.
