Little-Known Uses of Bleach

Description: Tips for using bleach for a variety of uses around your home.
Sponsored links:

(NC)-Everyone knows that using bleach is the best way to keep your whites white, but bleach is more versatile than you might think. When it comes to around-the-house use, bleach can be considered the 'jack of all trades'. Put bleach to the test in your home by using it for the following purposes.

  • Polish and brighten glassware with a mixture of one quarter cup of bleach and one cup of warm water.
  • Make a household cleaning solution mixing three quarters of a cup of bleach and 3.8 litres (1 gallon) of water. Because of its strong cleaning properties, bleach such as Ultra Javex Bleach by Clorox is excellent for cleaning kitchen and bathroom fixtures.
  • Lengthen the lifespan of fresh cut flowers by adding six to seven drops of bleach into a litre of water. Cut off the stems first to expose a fresh surface.
  • Clean cutting boards and countertops by scrubbing the surfaces with a brush dipped in a solution of one teaspoon of bleach diluted in two litres of water.
  • Remove mould stains and mildew stains from the grout between bathroom tiles by applying a solution of three quarters of a cup of bleach and 3.8 litres of water directly on the grout and letting it sit for 15 minutes before scrubbing.
  • Clean plastic lawn furniture with a mixture of a half-cup of bleach and 3.8 litres of water.
