For many home owners, cleaning your house can be a dreaded chore. Many people only have time once a week or less to devote to cleaning, and sometimes this make the task even more difficult. When clutter and messes accumulate, people become overwhelmed and may not even really try to clean their house because they do not even know where to start.

The list below is designed to help you organize your cleaning efforts so that you can tackle any cleaning project. This list does not need to be completed in one day, and once you are on a regular cleaning schedule, you may find that you do not need to complete each task every time you clean. This list is also divided by room, allowing you to even focus on one room at a time, depending on your schedule.

Bathroom

  • Clean and disinfect sinks, tubs, shower stalls, toilet tanks, and tile.
  • Change towels and garbage can liners.
  • Wipe down vanity area and clean the mirrors.
  • Mop or scrub floor after sweeping.
  • Dust or wipe dust from base boards.

Kitchen

  • Wipe down countertops, backsplashes, and cabinets.
  • Scrub and disinfect sink.
  • Scrub the outside of all appliances, check the insides to make sure that they are clean and in good working order.
  • Empty trash and replace trash liner.
  • Wash dishes or load dirty dishes into the dishwasher.
  • Mop or scrub floor after sweeping.
  • Dust or wipe dust from base boards.

Family Room

  • Dust tables and surface areas.
  • Pick up any clutter or papers.
  • Dust picture frames or other framed objects.
  • Fluff pillows on sofa.
  • Vacuum floors.

Bedrooms

  • Make beds after changing the bed linen.
  • Dust all surface areas and picture frames.
  • Spot clean walls and light switches.
  • Pick up any clutter or clothing on the floor.
  • Empty laundry basket.
  • Empty trash and replace trash liner.
  • Dust lampshades and window sills.
  • Clean mirrors.

Depending on your home and cleaning needs, you may add and subtract chores from this list at your discretion.
