I've had lots of luck with automatic dishwasher detergent. I washed a pair of my daughter's pants that we thought were ruined in it and a little bleach and it came out clean. You have to be careful with colors though, if bleach is spilled directly on cloth it will bleach fabric. I've used it on colors by adding just a little to my water before putting clothes in washer.
