How to Make Swiffer Replacements
by

Swiffer's items are expensive. Instead of having to refill your Swiffer, or even buy replacement pads, you can make your own.

How to Make Swiffer Pads

  • You can use 20˘ squares of felt. They fit perfectly, and can be washed in a normal load and reused.
  • Old towels also make great Swiffer substitutes.
  • Pieces of an old flannel shirt are good replacements too.

How to Make Swiffer Cleaning Solvent

  • Take canister off, remove lid with either pliers, or a vice (yes, it's that tight!). Once you've broken the seal, it is broken forever. Then, refill it with a homemade solution, made of dish soap, water, and Fantastic®.
  • You can also drill a hole in the top of an empty bottle, and using a small funnel you can refill it with your cleaner of choice (mine would be good old vinegar and water). Then cover the hole with duct tape. That way you don't have to worry about messing with the cap, which may keep it from working properly.
