2 c. warm water 2/3 c. sugar 2 pkg. dry yeast 3 c. all-purpose flour 1 T. salt 3 eggs 2/3 c. melted butter 5 c. flour |
Nut filling: 2 lb. ground walnuts 2 12 oz. cans evaporated milk 1 c. honey 1 c. sugar 1/3 c. butter cinnamon/sugar mixture |

Makes 2 5x9" loaves.
Mix together warm water, sugar and dry yeast. Stir to dissolve. Add 3 c. flour and salt. Add eggs and 2/3 c. melted butter; stir in 5 c. flour. Place dough in greased bowl and let rise. (Place bowl over hot water to speed rising time to 20 minutes).
Nut filling: Mix together walnuts, evaporated milk, honey, and 1 c. sugar in saucepan. Heat on low heat.
Melt 1/3 c. butter. Roll out dough on a floured cloth into a large 36 x 48" rectangle. Brush butter over dough with a pastry brush. Sprinkle dough with cinnamon/sugar mixture. Spoon walnut mixture over all of the dough; roll up like a jelly roll. Cut into sections to fit 5 x 9" loaf pans sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour until nice and brown. |
