Homemade Weed Killer
by

Have you noticed the price of Roundup lately? Wow, that stuff is expensive. It does work great, however, to kill weeds that you get in the nooks and crannies of your sidewalks and patio. What if there was an inexpensive alternative? There is!

homemade weed killerWhen I saw this article I knew I had to give this natural weed killer a try. It is very inexpensive, non-toxic, and yes it will kill your weeds.

Here is what you will need:

  • 1 gallon of white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • Liquid dish soap (any brand)
  • Empty spray bottle

Put salt in the empty spray bottle and fill it the rest of the way up with white vinegar. Add a squirt of liquid dish soap.

This solution works best if you use it on a hot day. Spray it on the weeds in the morning, and as it heats up it will do its work. Check out my before and after photos. I took the first photo right before I sprayed the weeds and the after photo about 24 hours later.

This homemade weed killer will work great along my retaining walls where weeds love to hide in the cracks between the bricks. Be careful where you spray this stuff, even though it is non-toxic to humans and animals, it will kill any plant life it comes into contact with. You don't want to use this in your garden.

If you are looking for an inexpensive alternative to Roundup, then I think you will be very pleased with the results of this homemade weed killer. I am always wary about spraying chemicals around my pets and children. It's great to know there are safe alternatives out there that don't cost a fortune.
