Fast Growing Evergreen Trees

Evergreen trees are a great way to get some privacy as they limit visibility all year round. Many evergreen trees do however grow very slow and you might not want to wait forever to be able to eat breakfast or having a party without the neighbors being able to see you. You could of course always build a fence but there are options, fast growing evergreen trees that allow you to have your coveted privacy in a relatively short amount of time. A wall of evergreen trees facing your neighbors might not only offer you privacy but also increase the value of your property and can be a very good way to block ugly views form your house. Below you'll find a list of fast growing evergreen trees.
Douglas Fir
The Douglas fir is actually not a fir at all but rather a member of a small genus of fir like trees. It is has a very characteristic shape and maintains a symmetrical shape from the bottom to the top. They grow extremely thick and are a very good choice if you want to keep sounds out. They stay lushly all through the winter are suitable in areas with a lot of winds. The Douglas fir does however grow extremely large and can reach 330 feet (100 meters). IT does however withstand extensive pruning.
Leyland Cypress
The Leyland cypress is an evergreen plant that is very suitable if you want to create a dense evergreen hedge. They grow very thick and are very simple to prune. They have soft texture and are friendly to handle. The sap can cause skin irritation among some so use protective clothing when working with the Leyland cypress.
Norway Spruce
This fast growing tree is evergreen and grows very wide and can therefore be used as an ornamental showpiece. Their wide shape also makes them a good choice if you want to hide something from view since it only takes on or a few Norway spruce to block entire views. They can withstand extremely cold climates and are therefore a very good choice in the north where other trees might have a hard time cooping with the cold. They grow to the size of a Christmas tree in two years and some people plant a few of them just to have beautiful Christmas trees in their backyard.
These were just tree example of fast growing evergreen trees and there are many, many more. Talk to your local garden store to find out which fast growing evergreen trees that are suitable in your area. Remember that it will take a few years for the trees to grow even if we are talking about fast growing trees. A wooden fence might be a better idea if you are very impatient and don't want to wait for the trees to grow up.
