How to Make Acorn Cookies
I saw these fun acorn cookies on Pinterest a couple of months ago. They looked so easy to make and like they would be a fun Thanksgiving treat for the kids to help make.
For these acorn cookies, you will need:
- Mini Nilla Wafers
- Hershey's Kisses
- Peanut Butter Chips
- Chocolate Frosting
- Peanut Butter
You won't need very much frosting and peanut butter to make these cookies. One spoonful of peanut butter was all I needed. You just use it to stick the candies to the cookie.
To make an acorn cookie unwrap a Hershey's kiss and place a small amount of chocolate frosting on the bottom of the chocolate kiss. Stick the candy onto the flat side of a mini Nilla Wafer.
To make the stem of the acorn, dip the bottom of a peanut butter chip into peanut butter (you just need a tiny bit) and stick it to the rounded side of the Nilla Wafer.
That's it! Make sure you store these in a cool place or the candies might get soft and lose their shapes. You can also store them in the refrigerator. I would think you could also freeze them without any problem.
Kids LOVE making these. Of course many will get eaten along the way, but oh well! These are a fun family activity for fall or Thanksgiving.
