Blooming Valentines
by Rondi Hillstrom Davis and Janell Sewall Oakes

Description: Whimsical blooming valentines to make for Valentine's Day.

Make a whimsically painted planter full of miniature roses, African violets, or your favorite herbs. All you need is a terra-cotta pot, potting soil, acrylic paint, and some paint brushes or small sponges.

Directions:

1. Wipe the outside of your pot clean. Cut small sponges into heart shapes to use as stamps. Paint a Valentine design on the outside of your pot and allow it to dry.

2. Fill the pot with a shallow layer of gravel for drainage and then some potting soil.

3. Add a small miniature plant. Pat it into place and water it lightly. Present it to your loved one for Valentine’s Day and don’t forget the hugs and kisses.
