Elegant Easter Decorating Ideas
by Joey Pebble

Easter is a holiday of life and color, a celebration of rebirth set amidst the newly wakened glory of spring. Decorating for this holiday should be an expression of those themes. A mixture of natural elements and cheerful pastel hues will help you to infuse your environment with the unique joy of this special occasion.

The fact that Easter is set amidst the dawn of spring makes the natural elements of this time of year a prominent decorative theme for this holiday. Plants should abound, with newborn budding potted pieces bringing both a rush of life and energy into the space, while also demonstrating the theme of rebirth which is so prevalent in this occasion.

Flowers are another common Easter decorating element. You can fill the space with real flowers, or use silk facsimiles to create elaborate and colorful displays. Decorative vases painted in matched pastel hues can enhance this effect, and you can even find Easter themed vases in holiday décor stores. Lilies are especially associated with Easter and should be central to your floral endeavors.

Then of course you have Easter eggs. The tradition of dieing and decorating eggs is one of the most cherished parts of this holiday. This can be an activity that you share with guests at an Easter themed party, especially if you have guests who have young children. Once you have eggspressed all of your artistic inspirations, the eggs can be displayed throughout the home as colorful Easter themed décor items.

Candles can help to not only illuminate your home, but also bring the religious significance of the holiday into focus. The soft flickering glow of a candle is often considered to be a spiritual symbol. For a more frivolous effect, use scented candles infused with fresh floral and spring based aromas.

Easter is often known as being one of the sweetest holidays of the year. You can use this in your holiday decorating by setting out bowls of candies throughout the space. Not only will this provide a tasty treat for any guests or family members that might be enjoying your hospitality, but the candies themselves can be bright splashes of pastel hue depending on the type you purchase.

Of course bunnies are one of the most commonly associated Easter symbols, and you can get a wide variety of decorative pieces which will display these fuzzy flop eared creatures. There are rabbit shaped salt and pepper shakers, place cards emblazoned with their images, napkin rings and tea pots, and even bunny banners which can be stretched across your walls. One cute idea is to purchase stuffed bunnies and pose them throughout the home.

Your decorative endeavors can also stretch out beyond the home. Your lawn can be the scene of a variety of decorative Easter themed pieces. From plastic figures to blow up displays, your front lawn or porch can be the scene of a variety of fun setups. You can also use brightly colored eggs in both hidden and readily visible places as splashes of color to add to the beauty of your arrangements. Then when the party is over, the classic egg hunting game can be used to make sure that all of the little eggs are recovered up and taken inside.
