Father’s Day is Sunday June 21, 2009 and we have 3 easy crafts the kids can make for dad and grandpa.
Picture Frame
You will need a wooden picture frame, paint color of your choice, glue, paint
brush and depending on what dad's interests are you will need a small object to glue around the frame such as nails or golf tees.
First cover the area you will be working to keep the paint off any furniture. Have the kids paint the frame the colors they chose, let it dry and then glue the small objects around the frame and let them dry. You can add a photo of dad and the kids.
Some objects ideas are: fishing lures, golf tees, small nails, small screws, bolts or whatever you can think of that goes along with something dad enjoys.
Paper Weight
For this simple project you will need a rock about the size of your fist, paints of your color choices, paint brushes, paint pens or permanent markers.
Again cover the area you will be working and have the kids brainstorm ideas that they can paint on the rocks or words they could write. Paint pens would be good for this project but permanent magic markers would work also. Help the kids with any words they need to spell and then let them decorate the rock however they wish.
Foot Step Picture
You will need a picture frame that will hold an 8 x 10 picture, a piece of white cardstock paper, your choice of washable paint color, paint brush, small photo of child, handwrite or print out these words: “In your foot steps I will be so be careful where you lead me.”
To begin you will need to supervise the child (or do it yourself ) the painting of the bottom of one of dad’s shoes. Then make a print of the shoe in the middle of the paper. When it dries glue the photo at the bottom of the shoe print towards the heel area and write the words at the top of the shoe. Please remember to rinse the paint off the shoe immediately after making the print. Then put the picture in the frame.
