If you are trying to think of something fun to do for your Dad on Father's Day, a family picnic might be the perfect idea. After all, spending time with the family is what most Dads enjoy most. If you are planning a family picnic for this upcoming Father's Day, here are a few tips that you can use to make sure you have the best day ever.
Choosing a Great Picnic Location
The first step in planning a picnic is deciding on a location. If your city is like most, you probably have at least a few parks nearby that would work well. When making your location decision, it can help to think about the kind of activities that your father enjoys the most. For example, if he's a baseball fan, perhaps a picnic at a park with a baseball field would be fun. After all, even if you don't have enough family members to form a team, you could still have a good time batting the ball around and playing catch with Dad. Or, how about planning a picnic at the park, then surprising your Dad with a trip to watch a baseball game? If you live close to a major or minor league team, that could be a great way of spending some quality weekend time together. Although you might not be able to plan a trip like this for the exact date of Father's Day, you could give him the tickets as a surprise and attend the game later in the week. If your Dad is more of a hiking fan, choosing a park that has good hiking trails could be a good idea. If he likes to swim, pack his swimsuit and take him to a park with a pool. Regardless of his favorite activities, you should be able to find a park that fits the bill.
Planning Some Fun Picnic Activities
Once you've selected a location, you can start planning some fun events to share with your Dad. If you are trying to surprise him with the picnic outing, pack your supplies into the trunk of the car without him knowing it. Then, you'll be all ready to go without Dad having to pack the car. Fun picnic activities could include a volley ball or crochet set, a pair of corn hole boards, or badminton. Of course, you'll also want to pack a delicious picnic lunch. Plan a picnic menu that includes many of Dad's favorite foods. Then, split up the tasks so that everyone can help make something to put into the picnic basket. After all, Dad will enjoy his lunch even more if he knows the entire family made in. Be sure to pack the paper plates, napkins, cutlery and a cold thermos of lemonade. You might also want to take a blanket along in case there isn't a picnic table available. Of course, you'll also want to pack your camera so that you can take plenty of pictures of the family enjoying Father's Day together.
