Making Ornaments from Felt

Christmas is right around the corner and ornaments are more expensive this year than last. You want to redecorate the tree with a fresh new look, but the cost of such an endeavor is keeping the plans at bay? Fear not, felt can save the day.

In order to spice up that Christmas tree this year all you will need is a variety of felt sheets in different colors, a packet of dark koolaid, a bowl with 1/2 cup of water, Christmas cookie cutters, scissors and hooks.

Lay the felt sheet on a flat hard surface. Then, mix the koolaid in the bowl of water. Next, dip the cutting side of the Christmas cookie cutter into the koolaid mixture and remove, shaking slightly. Finally, press the shape onto the felt sheet. Repeat the shapes until the felt sheet is full. Now you are ready to cut and hang these precious treasures.

Kids love to make these quick and easy Christmas ornaments and the inexpensive nature of the supplies allows for many mistakes and cuts in the wrong direction. After cutting out the shapes, feel free to adorn the ornament with glitter, sequence, ribbon or whatever appeals to your ornamental needs.
