Fourth of July Pretzel Sparklers
by

These "pretzel sparklers" are a fun treat to make for your family for the Fourth of July, and only require a few simple ingredients. Have your kids help you make some for your next summer barbecue or family get together. I got this fun idea from Martha Stewart's web site.

pretzel sparklersFor these pretzel sparklers, you will need:

  • White chocolate chips
  • Pretzel rods
  • Red, white, blue sprinkles

I placed the white chocolate chips in a glass pie plate and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. I then stirred it, and microwaved it for 30 more seconds. I stirred it once more, and microwaved it for 30 more seconds until it was completely melted.

Roll the top halves of the pretzel rods in melted chocolate and then sprinkle the candy sprinkles on them. I made mine on waxed paper and then transferred them to a plate to put in the refrigerator for a few minutes. The chocolate will harden again quickly. You can use regular chocolate or the white chips. I used the white ones because my family doesn't like chocolate (they're weird, I know). One package of chocolate chips will make at least a dozen pretzel sparklers.

You can serve these on a plate or in a beverage glass. They store well in gallon sized ziploc bags. These dipped pretzels are fun to make for any holiday, just change the sprinkle color. These Fourth of July ones are fun because they do look like sparklers.
