If you're looking for the perfect Valentine's Day gift for a friend or family member, a scrapbook could be the ideal solution. Scrapbooks are easy to make, inexpensive, and always appreciated by the recipient. Because scrapbooks provide ample opportunities for personalization, it's easy to create a really customized gift. The person who receives your scrapbook as a Valentine's Day gift will know that you took the time to create something really special, instead of simply buying a ready-made card or gift at the store. Here are some great tips to help you create the ultimate Valentine's Day scrapbook.
Paper Bag Albums
Paper bag albums are simple and easy enough for even a child to make. All you need are some small plain paper bags such as those commonly used to pack lunches, some decorative paper, a supply of embellishments, and anything else you'd like to use to add a customized look. You can make your paper bag album with as many pages as you'd like. In most cases, six paper bags is a good place to start. There are various methods you can use to create the base of the scrapbook from the bags. One of easiest methods is to simply use a small round punch to create two or three holes along the folded bottom edge of the bag. Once the holes are punch, connect the bags together using small rings, cord, ribbon or yarn. You can then decorate the pages of the book as well as the back and front cover with pieces of scrapbook paper, yarn, sequins, glitter and other embellishments. Be sure to include some blank areas so that you can insert photographs and journaling cards. You can also insert photographs, memorabilia, journaling cards and other mementos inside the pockets created by the open end of each bag page.
Tag Albums
If you're looking for quick and easy way to make a small but meaningful scrapbook album, consider creating one from paper or cardboard tags. To make the process especially simple, start with pre-made tags, such as those used for shipping or labeling purposes or decorative tags from a craft store. You can also cut your own tags from cardstock, cardboard or paper. You can use a pre-made tag as a template when creating your own tags. Or, create your own tag design for a really customized look. Once you have a nice selection of tags, punch a hole in the top of each one if the tags you're using don't already have holes. Decorate each tag with scrapbook paper, stickers, embellishments, ribbons, and other decorative items. Some of the tags can be used to mount photos, while others can be used for journaling. You could also decorate a few of the tags as "coupons" if desired, such as a coupon for a night out on the town. When all of the tags are completely decorated, slip a metal ring or a piece of ribbon, cord or yarn through the top holes to connect them. The end result will be a small scrapbook album that anyone would enjoy receiving on Valentine's Day.
