Some of the most creative imaginations begin in the bathtub. The water may become the sea or a ship and the rest of the bathroom is the ocean. Whether they are battling on the seven seas or they are dreaming of a castle surrounded by the ocean; their imaginations are not limited when the decor is right.
If you want a bathroom that can spark their imagination, consider all the many things they talk about, see, or do during the day and make a collage for the bath. You may want to place stations up in the bathroom. Here is how to get the stations into the bathroom decor.
In the Tub
The bathtub is an endless adventure and it is also loads of fun. You need to decorate the bathtub to be out in the ocean. You can paint the walls around the bathtub a deep ocean blue. Find the stencil or clings to put up that feature starfish, seahorses, and fish. There are several places online to purchase these clings and stencils. Once the walls are decorated and the underwater creatures are on the wall you want to accent the area with sea accessories. You can find these at any novelty store. The shower curtain could be his or her boat sails so you want them made from a white or off white linen.
Keep a basket full of toys around the bathtub to help spark their imagination. You will want to include sailboats, underwater sea creatures, and action figures of some type. They can begin their journey as soon as they sit down in the bathtub.
Place deep blue rugs around the bathtub to represent the ocean floor. You can find area rugs with an underwater theme to it online or at your local rug store. This will complete the look around the bathtub and help to blend the colors of the bathroom together.
At the Sink
Place a variety of toys around the sink that you want them to play with however, you don’t want them playing there for a long period of time. The sink should be for washing hands and brushing teeth. You can place colorful themed hand towels, soap dispensers and holders, and toothbrush holders that feature the underwater theme. Paint a small step stool ocean blue and place it at the sink in case they need the extra step to wash their hands or brush their teeth. You want to make everything easier for them to reach.
The Wall
Again, you can go with the ocean theme on the walls as well. Simply paint it a dark color blue on the bottom with a lighter shade on top. If they love Spongebob Squarepants characters then you can incorporate that in the walls.
Let your child help you decorate the bathroom if you are unsure about how to do it. They can use their imaginations and together you can create a look that your child will love. They will want to take a bath every night so they can play in their own little world.
