Gorgeous and festive fall season calls for a special change in your home decor. Pay a tribute to the nature's beauty and fertility by adding wonderful fall decor accents to your home.
Decorating for fall is all about adding that special warmth and festive feel to your environment. The season abounds in natural decorative items and the only thing you need for inspiration is to look around! Fall home decor is beautiful, easy to implement and amazingly cheap.
The first step to your home's makeover is switching to warm autumn shades - golden, brown, reddish, yellow, orange, rich cream, burgundy; basically, any color that is associated with fall and harvest. Change your curtains, slipcovers, linens, area rugs, throw pillows, and table top; go for deeper, rich colors, natural patterns and warmer fabrics. Think velvet curtains, flannel slip covers, wool area rugs and velour throws. After all, you are preparing for cooler months!
If you can afford re-painting your walls, do so. If not, add a few seasonal accents to the wall by changing the artwork to match your fall home decor. Still life depicting traditional autumn fruits and vegetables is the safest way to double the impact of your fall decor. You can also decorate your walls with natural items like dried or fresh berries, colorful leaves, and so on.
Pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors are indispensable in your fall home decor. This amazing veggie is what fall is mostly associated with; it is a true symbol of the season's bounty and fertility. Pumpkin is a versatile decorative item - it can be carved or painted, used as a flower vase or candle holder, topiary, etc. A distinctive element of Halloween and Thanksgiving, pumpkin is a cheap and easy way to create that traditional ambience the fall season is associated with.
Baskets and big bowls filled with apples, pomegranates, miniature pumpkins, squash, gourds, berries, nuts and other seasonal gifts of nature is one more way to celebrate the harvest with its wonderful tastes and flavors. Dried leaves, herbs and flowers can be used alone or in an organic combination with fruits and vegetables to create a stunning centerpiece for your room.
Any natural item available in fall can add to your organic decor. Take a few clear glass jars or different sizes and shapes and fill them with anything interesting you could collect during your nature walk; this activity would be especially exciting for kids, who could compete with each other in creating the best looking jar.
Don't forget about tree branches - they can make one more striking accent in your fall home decor, especially those of unusual form or with colorful leaves and berries still attached. Put them in a tall vase or anything that can hold them, for example, an umbrella stand.
Candles will complete the warm and inviting look of your fall home decor. You can arrange them in colored glass bottles or jars to provide soft cozy lighting, reminiscent of the fireplace. Another idea is to burn scented candles - cinnamon, pumpkin pie, apple, vanilla, hazelnut are the main flavors of the season helping to set that special festive spirit and homely feel.??
