Decking Your Living Room French-Country Style

There’s definitely something about the French style that most other countries in the world find fascinating. From beautiful buildings to fashion and home décor, there’s no doubting their influence on people around the globe. Country home décor is another contribution made by the French to the interior designing world.

Originally coming from the hamlets and small villages of the southern region of France, this kind of design is growing in popularity around the world. Using earthy colours like yellows, browns, reds and gold, the unique French style places them side by side with antique furniture, giving your home a unique look.

Keep it Natural

If you’re looking to attain the vibe of a French country home in your living room, it must give you a warm and homey feel. Natural concepts like rustic wooden antiques, baskets and floral themes must be used. Nature-inspired colours must be selected, like sky blue, leaf-green, etc.

You don’t necessarily have to invest in new furniture or renovate your living room, as many simple and quick ways can be applied to get the feel of a country home décor. Simple additions like a vase that is earth-coloured with a floral runner, intricately designed curtains or wall tapestry, or even a French countryside painting will alter the way the room looks. The country home décor in French style can bring beauty to any home’s living room. Even really old houses with an old one can be modernised, preserving the history of the place and making it look more elegant.

Choose the Right Lighting

Among the most important things that help in setting the mood and tone to a living room is lighting. It is important that you install bright lights here, as it is the most frequently visited place in the house. Bright lighting can help in bringing happiness to the people in the room. If there’s a coffee bar, dining area or a centre island in your kitchen, that can be seen through the living room, applying a halogen daylight bulb will provide a casual and relaxed dining feel.

Living and dining rooms can be used for many purposes such as dinner parties, family gatherings, romantic dinners, etc. These rooms must have a series of lighting options like wall lamps, standing lamps, chandeliers, overhead fixtures, etc. to give it that elegant look. Since lighting is very important in creating an ambient atmosphere, you must pay a lot of attention to it.
