If you love the look of a beautiful outdoor garden, why not bring it indoors by utilizing a garden theme in your home? A garden theme can work wonderfully in the kitchen, family room, living room, bedroom or bathroom. If you are looking for creative ideas for garden theme décor, here are a few decorating tips you can use.
Garden Themed Bedrooms
A garden theme can work very nicely in the bedroom, especially if you love the fresh look of floral designs. Give the bedroom cottage charm by incorporating floral fabrics, wicker, fresh plants, fresh flowers, and wrought iron wall décor. You can also use garden themed accents in interesting ways, such as utilizing a piece of authentic wooden picket fencing to decorate the room. Paint or wallpaper the wall first. Then, install the fencing just as you would bead board or wainscoting along the lower portion of the wall. Small garden statues, an indoor fountain, or even a small birdbath filled with flowers or live plants could add a decorative touch. White or light-colored window treatments will look right at home in a garden themed bedroom. Pink, mauve, light sage green, sunny yellow or sky blue can give the room the look of an outdoor garden.
Garden-Themed Kitchens
If you love gardening, you probably love working with fresh foods in the kitchen. The kitchen is the perfect room to decorate in a garden theme. Use pretty floral patterns and soft colors to give the kitchen a cottage look. Or, you could focus on herbs, fruits or vegetables in your decorating theme. A spacious farmhouse table can work well, topped with a homespun gingham or checkered tablecloth. Wrought iron, baskets, and wooden décor can add to the overall look of the room. Several pots of herbs growing on the kitchen window sill, a bowl of apples on the counter or a bouquet of freshly cut flowers on the table can add the perfect finishing touch.
Using the Garden Theme in the Bath
The pretty floral patterns and fresh pastel shades reminiscent of a garden can be perfect for decorating a bathroom. The look can be very pretty, giving a relaxing and tranquil look to the room. Add a couple of pretty live plants or a fresh bouquet of flowers. Decorate the walls with art prints featuring floral or plant designs. You could even save money by taking photos of flowers and plants in your own garden. Simply enlarge the photos, display in frames, and hang on the walls. Not only will you save money, but you'll also be adding a personalized touch to the room. Keep the color theme light and fresh, focusing on shades such as light yellow, light green, pastel blue or pink. White window treatments will look especially crisp and fresh in the room.
Garden Themes in the Living or Family Room
A garden-themed living room or family room can provide you with a relaxing space to enjoy time with your family. A wicker loveseat or chair can add a warm and cozy feel to the room. Use natural shades such as light sage green, blue, yellow or earthy brown tones. Decorate with live plants, floral themed art prints, and baskets filled with objects from nature, such as pine cones or dried flowers. After a long and busy day, you'll really enjoy unwinding in your garden-themed room.
