If there is one room in the house that should be as comfortable and luxurious as possible, it is the bedroom. It is easy to assume that achieving a luxurious bedroom means spending a lot of money, but that is definitely not the case. A few quick and easy changes can produce amazing results for any bedroom. By putting some thought into the process, you can redecorate your room in a way that will make it a true sanctuary. A handful of redecorating tips are outlined below.
Make Your Bed the Focal Point
It is easier to pull a room together when you designate a focal point within it. In the bedroom, the bed is a natural choice. Invest in the largest bed that you can afford. Select a dramatic headboard, and do not be afraid to select one that is especially large. Canopy beds are lovely options, especially when they are paired with translucent or silky curtains. Make sure to splurge on bedding as well. Choose sheets with high thread counts, a plush mattress topper and plenty of high-quality pillows.
Use Wall Art to Add Flair
Mirrors, paintings and other types of wall decor should be used to give your bedroom a richer and more refined appearance. If you have already made your bed the focal point of the room, you can enhance the effect by placing oversized pieces of wall art directly behind it. The strategic use of mirrors can give a compact room a more spacious look and feel.
Choose High-Quality Flooring
The flooring that you use in your bedroom is akin to a blank canvas, and it has a major impact on the overall aesthetics of the room. If you prefer carpeting, make sure to select a plush style with a high, dense pile. If hardwood flooring is more your taste, choose a style that has a refined finish. A few carefully selected area rugs can go a long way too.
Take Care with Lighting
It is nearly impossible to have too many different types of lighting in a bedroom. Make liberal use of floor lamps, desk lamps, track lighting and other fixtures. Use accent lighting to highlight certain parts of the room. You may also want to consider lights that can be gradually dimmed in order to achieve the perfect balance.
Control how Much Light is Allowed into the Room
During the night, you will probably want to make your room as dark as possible; during the day, it is nice to let the sun shine in. The right window coverings will give you the best control, and roman blinds are especially attractive options. Roman blinds are available in many fine materials like silk and linen. You will be amazed by how much more luxurious your bedroom will look when you use well-designed roman blinds.
In addition to the preceding tips, you should take care to keep your room neat, tidy and organised at all times. Clutter can make even the most well-appointed bedroom look unappealing. As long as you keep that in mind, you should be able to achieve luxurious results in the bedroom in no time.
