Using Hearts to Decorate a Bathroom

Bathroom decors vary from the bold and geometric to the flowery and feminine. For Valentine's Day, consider making a few decorating modifications to create a fun, playful and romantic bathroom decor. By using hearts to decorate a bathroom, you can achieve this look for a relatively inexpensive price.

The Shower Curtain

Shower curtains are a great place to start when using hearts to decorate the bathroom. It may be difficult to find ready-made shower curtains with a heart motif, but if one is available it will make a great addition. If a pre-made shower curtain is not available, consider making one from some inexpensive heart motif fabric. The large fabric stores, as well as, online retailers often offer discounted prices on Valentine's Day theme fabric as it gets closer to February 14th. Measure the length and width of the current shower curtain to get an idea of how much fabric will be needed. Cut the length of fabric into sections of the desired length and sew them together side by side. Fold down the top and sew button holes along the top of the curtain to hang the shower curtain hooks through. By making a curtain, the look and pattern desired will be easy to achieve.

Towels

If towels in shades of reds, whites and pinks are already owned it will be easy to incorporate them into the decor. If those colors are not part of the normal towel collection, consider adding a couple to the room's decor. Specialty hand towels with a heart motif are another option and are usually readily available close to Valentine's Day. There is no need to spend a drastic amount of money by purchasing all new towels if the heart motif is only temporary. A few key pieces will tie in the colors from the shower curtain and compliment the heart designs perfectly.

Accessories

Adding a few key accessories that are fashioned in a heart motif will also add character and fun romance to the bathroom. A heart shaped soap dish with a few heart shaped soaps will tie the sink in with the rest of the room's theme. Likewise, a heart shaped throw rug to replace the traditional bathmat will add color and personality to the space. Other options include having children use heart stamps and creating heart pictures that can be framed and hung on the wall. A heart shaped night light can also replace a traditional night light. A reed diffuser shaped like a heart or a heart motif cup are also great ways to tie in the fun, whimsical and romantic heart theme.

Use creativity and imagination when designing a bathroom with a heart motif. Some simple accessories and bath linens can alter the space quickly and inexpensively. If Valentine's Day has already passed, or you are looking for a more permanent heart theme for the bathroom, shop after holiday sales for things that can be used to decorate the space for a fraction of the original cost.
