If ever you’ve experienced a cluttered room, you more than likely feel that it’s unorganized, and even somewhat claustrophobic. It leaves us feeling messy or sometimes even lazy. Just because you have a cluttered room now doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.
Since Spring is here, it’s time to Spring clean that home of yours! Open up the windows, let out all that old air, clean every nook and cranny and reduce that clutter! Here are 6 easy ways you can reduce your clutter now!
Reduce your clutter with these 6 easy ways:
Pitch it: First of all, go through everything real quickly and just pitch what you don’t need. From wrappers to a scratched CD that no longer works – just throw it away. There is actually a study that proves when you throw items away the “happy chemical” in your brain is released, already making you feel accomplished. So get a garbage bag for all the junk you don’t need and pitch it.
Recycle it: Get another garbage bag for all the items you can recycle. We tend to hold onto a lot of papers, so recycle these along with any plastic, metal pieces, or even clothing that is recyclable.
Sell it: If you’re able to get money for some of the items, put them in a separate pile and sell them at a garage sale or even eBay. No point in throwing away money!
Ask yourself: If ever we come across an item and say “Wow, I forgot I even had this”, chances are you don’t need it. Ask yourself if you remember you had it, and when the last time you used it was. This will help you in reducing your clutter!
Storage bins: In order for you to get things accomplished, you need to start storing them after you’ve separated your piles. Get nice plastic tubs so you can store them in the basement, or even get storage bins for your shoes, extra clothes, or even baseball cards if that’s what you’re storing. These are great because they keep moisture out, which prevents mold and problems if there is ever a flood in your basement or home.
Where to store: If you have a basement, great, you can store all your bins down there, although, if you don’t, you need to find a way to organize all your stuff. Consider putting shelving units in your closets, pantries, and under your bed. This will hide the clutter, yet keep it organized.
There are so many ways you can organize your belongings, while reducing clutter at the same time. Consider a few of these tips, and remember; if you forgot you had it, or you don’t use it, just get rid of it!
