A question from one of our readers:
"Many years ago you could buy powdered starch it was put into the rinse water or a third soak after the rinse. Roots had a designer starch (powdered) but no longer. Why?... Well not everyone wants to iron jeans or that natural cheese cloth fabric that looks good wrinkely and not for the purpose of stiffening a collar but to bring back the structure a shape of the garmet like when you first bought it. Some say you can go to a dry cleaner and buy it from them over the counter in an unmarked bag lol. I would just love to know how to make it myself. After a starch soak then you can air dry the garmet and iron and then if you like use the spray starch for stiffening. Silks also need a starch soak. So many new and great clothes come out looking like a dish rag after the first wash." _________________ Rachel Paxton
