|

I would like to take my sons closet doors off and replace them with curtains (red). His closet takes up 1 whole wall of his room and I can not find a set of curtains wide enough or long enough to fit it. I can maybe buy 2 sets but it still wouldn't be long enough. I haven't physically looked in stores but I have checked the websites for Home Depot, Lowe's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Linens and Things and Ebay. Making one myself is not an option. I am not good at sewing nor do I really have the time. Anyone knoe where I can find one that size? _________________ Don't tip toe through life just to arrive at death safely |

| Have you tried a shower curtain? Not the plastic liner kind, but an actual shower CURTAIN. This might give you the height & width you need! |

My sons closet is ~121 inches wide and 96 inches long. I haven't thought about king size flat sheets (good idea) but I have thought about a table cloth which I'm thinking maybe a little thicker than the sheet. I did look at shower curtains but the longest and widest I've seen is 72x72. _________________ Don't tip toe through life just to arrive at death safely |

| I have a window that is even longer than the closet you mentioned and I bought several panels at Domestications.com. They have inexpensive curtains of various sizes. They may even have the one you need. We pretty much use them for all of our window treatment needs. You can also request a catalog. Let me know if this helps. Renee |

Thanks Renee. I did check the website and I found a red curtain but it was only 84 inches long. They do have alot of awesome stuff on there though. I think the table cloth will be my best bet. Thanks! _________________ Don't tip toe through life just to arrive at death safely |

What about using 2? Then there will be an opening in the middle for easier access to the contents. I did this for my daughters clothes closet, and used curtain tiebacks on each side, so she could loop the curtains out of the way when getting into the closet. Then they can come down and hide what's inside. |

I thought about using 2. I'm just worried about the length. If the length is only 84 inches and the length of his closet is 96 inches it will be too short and look funny. _________________ Don't tip toe through life just to arrive at death safely |

| Instead of placing the curtains all the way up, place them so that the gap is at the top not the bottom & use the space left at the top to decorate with small toys hanging in the space at the top. Or use a double rod & a smaller sheet gathered to to create a puffy effect. Maybe using a contrasting color. |

| I like FunkyJazzCat's idea, use the shorter curtains with the gap at the top, then maybe a matching or contrasting valance across the top? |

I second (or is it 3rd) the idea of using 2 panels so there's a break in the middle. With a closet soooo wide it would be a pain trying to get to something in the middle from the outer edge.
I did a bit of searching and california king matress measures 72x84 inchs. If you buy 2 flat sheets they should be tall enough (with the allowance for the mattress thickness). double the sheet width will give a nice gather to the end result. does this make sense?
ikea has long curtain wires instead of rods. heres the link

Then you could just get these clips to attach to the sheets

hope this helps. |

Hi Sharisse
Have you thought of using a painter's drop cloth.. they have them in different sizes, in a heavy duty muslin and they are really reasonable..
I got one (8'x10") at a paint store... Just a thought..!! I have used sheets for curtains and for chair or couch throws also..

| What about sheer panels that go under drapes? They come in a variety of widths and lengths and colors. Have you checked the JC Penny website for curtains? I know their catalogs offer a wide variety of curtain options. Also, about the length - you could use a valance at the top to make up the extra space if you can't find anything that is the length you need. You could put up one rod for the valance, then another a few inches lower for the curtain. This would solve your length problem and shouldn't inhibit closet access. |
