Homemade Shake and Bake Mix

If you like Shake and Bake mix to make an easy weeknight meal, then you will love this homemade version. You may already have everything on hand you need to make it. Just mix it up and store it in an airtight container until you need it. Easy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 2 tsp. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. poultry seasoning
  • 2 tsp. dry parsley
  • 2 c. dry breadcrumbs

Combine all of the ingredients and store in a mason jar or in a ziploc bag. These ingredients are enough to replace one Shake and Bake mix or enough to prepare one dinner of 4-5 pork chops or medium sized pieces of chicken.

Shake and Bake mix

When you are ready to prepare the meal, mix 3 tbsp. vegetable oil into the dry mix. Dip pork chops or chicken pieces in water and then dip into mix. Placed in greased pan and bake at 400 degrees for 30-40 minutes until meat is cooked through.

Give this recipe a try and see if you don't think this is as good or as better as the store bought Shake and Bake mix.
