During the coldest months of the year, it's easy to go through a lot of vaseline to soothe chapped skin or lips. Did you know you can make your own vaseline? It is all natural and chemical free!

You only need a few simple ingredients to make your own vaseline. If you are already making your own home remedies, like this homemade Neosporin, you may already have all of these ingredients already on hand.

To make vaseline, you will need:

You can add a few drops of essential oil to this recipe for added scent or flavor, just make sure that the oil is okay to put on your skin.

You can purchase beeswax on Amazon or at your local craft store like Michael's or Joann's. Beeswax is a common ingredient in homemade skin products, so if you can get some on sale, there are a lot of great things you can make with it.

It's up to you whether you want to use coconut oil or olive oil in this recipe, just use whatever you have on hand.

Melt the beeswax and olive oil in a small crock pot or in a sauce pan with a double boiler. I have a small crock pot I use just for making homemade skin care products. You can find one really inexpensively at a yard sale or thrift store.

The ingredients will melt fairly quickly. After they have melted, pour them into a heat-proof small jar such as a home remedies board on Pinterest.
