Product Review: LA's Totally Awesome All-Purpose Cleaner

With two toddlers running around, I'm always looking for cleaners to get stains out of whatever my boys have decided to get into.

I received this LA's Totally Awesome all-purpose cleaner to take a look at. Its claim to fame is that it only costs $1! You can buy it at Dollar Tree and many other dollar and discount stores. I put it to the test, and wasn't disappointed.

I used it to get a stain (undigested kitty food!) off the carpet, to clean the grout in between the tiles on my kitchen counter, and today I tested it on the blue crayon one of my boys used to color all over the window sill in my living room (see pictures below). It worked great. I had to scrub a little on the grout, but the crayon came right off my painted window sill. I also used it to remove the crayon that was all over the window pane.

It is supposed to be all purpose...you can use it on carpets, upholstery, clothes stains, linoleum, chrome, porcelain, wood. You can also use it to clean office machinery and on your car, boat, or RV. It's supposed to be a great de-greaser. You can even use it to clean paint off your hands...it doesn't contain any acid, ammonia, or bleach.

Overall I would say it isn't necessarily better than other products I've used, but it does at least as well and in some cases better. For the price, it could definitely replace many products you may already be using. Check it out!

Banana Bread Recipe

When my daughter was home from college for the holidays, she decided to make a loaf of banana bread. It was the first loaf she's ever made, and it turned out pretty good!

Banana Bread

1 c. sugar
1/3 c. softened butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas (3-4 med. bananas)
1/3 c. water
1 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of loaf pan. Mix sugar and butter. Stir in eggs until blended. Add bananas and water and beat for 30 seconds with mixer. Stir in remaining ingredients except nuts until just moistened; stir in nuts. Pour into loaf pan. Bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean (8-in. loaf pan 75 min., 9-in. loaf pan 55 min.). Loosen sides of loaf from pan and remove from pan. Cool before slicing.

Enjoy!

JCPenneys Clearance Sale

I'm not much of a mall shopper. Most of my boys' clothes are hand-me-downs or from yard sales. My husband and I want to take them to get their pictures taken next month, and we wanted to find something cute to get their pictures taken in.

We looked around the mall, and most children's stores were just too expensive. We decided to take a look at JCPenneys, and stumbled on their year-end clearance sales. I couldn't believe our luck.

They had Levi's 40% off, and a lot of items 70% off. For about $120 we got two Levi's jackets, two pairs of toddler Levi's (with adjustable waists!), 8 shirts, and two pairs of shoes. We saved at least $100. The shirts had pictures of Elmo, firetrucks, bulldozers, etc., on them. When we showed them to the boys they were so excited they couldn't decide which shirt to wear. They ended up trying them all on! Now it's a major production every day picking out a shirt smile

I will definitely check out JCPenneys sales more often.

Cartridge World

Everyone has been telling me about a new store we have where you can buy recycled cartridges for your printer. It's a bit of a drive from our house and we don't go through that many cartridges, so I kind of forgot about it. When my daughter was home visiting from college she needed to replace her printer cartridge, so I had her take it down to Cartridge World. They took her empty (black) cartridge and gave her a recycled one for $10! The cartridges are all guaranteed to work. That's a great deal!
