Stay at Home Mom!

Well, it's official! I've given notice at my job and as of July 1, 2005, I am officially a stay-at-home mom! It terrifies me not knowing if we're going to be able to pay our bills from month to month, relying on my web sites to make ends meet. Being self-employed is a big leap, especially after working for the government for the past 10 years and enjoying all the benefits that come along with that. On the other hand, I get to spend every moment with my beautiful 3-month-old twin boys, and spend more time documenting my experiences with them to share with others. I am very excited about that and can't wait to get started. It will be a huge adjustment, but definitely worth it!

The Longest Yard

My husband and I are big Adam Sandler fans. I have to say we've been kind of disappointed at his last couple of movies. We liked Spanglish, but 50 First Dates and Anger Management were just too crude for us. It is too bad, because the movies were very funny other than that. We were pleasantly surprised with The Longest Yard. It's definitely not for kids, with some of the language, but it is really funny and not quite as crude as some of his other movies. I would compare it more with Happy Gilmore or Water Boy. I'm glad to see he's still got some great humor in him! Chris Rock was a great sidekick in this one.

Memorial Day Sale at PacSun

I normally avoid the mall like the plague, but my husband and I happened to be there last night while going to a movie. We were looking for sandals for my husband and decided to browse around at PacSun. I forgot the Memorial Day sales were going on, and we were pleasantly surprised to find their men's t-shirts buy two get one free and men's sandals two for $25! One pair of sandals alone was $38.99. I couldn't believe the great deal. He ended up getting 6 t-shirts and two pairs of sandals for about $100. The great thing is these will last him for months, and he really likes them. The shirts are also very long. I told him that would help cover up his Walmart shorts smile

Organizing Baby Clothes

Since I have been receiving hand-me-downs and shopping yard sales for clothes for our boys, their closet is overflowing with clothes that don't fit them yet. Here is how I have organized all their clothes:

Buying Baby Clothes

I can't believe the prices of new baby clothes these days. I just can't justify spending the money on them! We have received a lot of hand-me-downs from family members, and I will be shopping yard sales this summer. At one yard sale, I bought a whole pile of name-brand clothes size 6-9 mos. for $10!

U.S. Cellular vs. Cingular

Well, we finally made the big switch from U.S. Cellular to Cingular (formerly ATT) for our cell phone service. One of the biggest reasons we made the switch was that the calling area for Cingular is so large. Our calling area with U.S. Cellular was very limited, and only about 40 miles from one direction of our home! With Cingular, most of the populated U.S. is in their calling area. Our daughter is going to college in Portland, OR, next year, and she will still be in our calling area. With my husband, myself, and two teenage daughters all having cell phones, we can now all talk to each other free, where we couldn't before. The girls will rack up the minutes talking to friends, but my husband and I only call each other or the girls, so that will be great. My husband called U.S. Cellular and tried to get a better deal from them, but they flat out told him they could not match Cingular's offers!

Crocheting / Knitting Message Forum

I added a new crocheting / knitting message forum today. I thought it would be a good place for people to share the projects they're working on and swap patterns:

Vellum Birth Announcement

I was finally able to post a picture of the birth announcements I made, along with instructions on how I made them. Here is the link:

I really liked how they turned out. If you have any ideas for other types of birth announcements, feel free to post them in the card making message forum:
