College Acceptance!

I'm proud to announce that our daughter Amanda was accepted to Multnomah Bible College today. We're all very excited! Now she just needs to apply for her scholarships smile It's really where she wants to go, so she won't be applying anywhere else. One less thing to worry about! We're so proud of her.

Surviving Christmas

Well I'm happy to say that I survived Christmas! I don't know why I let it stress me out so much. We received lots of nice gifts and I worry about where I'm going to put everything and how I'm going to get rid of all the extra boxes and stuff lying around everywhere. Pretty sad! I think I've pretty much got our home back to "normal" now and can relax a little. It was fun opening presents with our twin boys--their first Christmas! That was the best part. Next year they will be almost two at Christmas so should have a lot more fun opening their presents. They both caught colds the day before Christmas and are now miserable, can't breathe to drink their bottles, poor things.

I am happy to say we have NO CREDIT CARD DEBT from Christmas. We have not charged Christmas presents in about four or five years. If we don't have the money for a present we don't buy it! That is one of the few financial decisions my husband and I have actually agreed on smile

Happy New Year!

I Finished My Christmas Letters!

I wrote our family Christmas letter today and got our Christmas cards ready to mail. I decided not to make cards this year...just not enough time or energy. I found some cute snowman cards at Walmart. This year I included some photos in the Christmas letter instead of adding them separately. I really liked how it turned out. Only a few more gifts to buy...now I need to start wrapping presents!

The Family Homestead

I've found a great new web site to visit. It's called The Family Homestead:

http://www.thefamilyhomestead.com/

This web site chronicles the life of a homesteading family. This family lives on a farm and has homeschooled 8 children. If you want to find out more about this kind of life, check out this web site! They also have a message forum for women who want to discuss homesteading life. It's great for families with lots of kids. I am really enjoying visiting there.

Christmas Carols and Holiday Ribbons

Last night my daughter and I went to our church's annual ladies' Christmas dinner. It was really nice. We got to sing a lot of traditional Christmas carols. It will probably be the only time we get to! My daughter hadn't heard one of the well-known carols (I don't remember which one). I told her that was one of the drawbacks of contemporary churches...she never hears the old songs and hymns. That makes me kind of sad. At the dinner they had some tables set up to display Christmas crafts. One woman was making curly ribbon for the tops of packages. She was cutting strips of wrapping paper and curling it on scissors like you do curling ribbons. It was really neat! I'll have to give it a try.

Christmas Shopping Online

This year I have been doing a lot of Christmas shopping online. A lot of web sites are offering free shipping! At http://www.amazon.com they offer free shipping on most orders over $25. If you are buying computer or electronic accessories, http://www.staples.com is offering free shipping on all orders. We have also bought a lot of items at http://www.ebay.com. Why go out shopping when you can shop from home smile It's also great for people who don't want to take their kids shopping!
